Happy Birthday, fellow Librans!
We’re officially into Libra season, just past the Autumnal Equinox when the darkness and light is evenly balanced. We’re no longer in the dog days of summer although there easily could be a return of hot weather (there usually is for a week or two). And we’re not in the dark cold days of winter although around here the temperatures dipped 30º overnight. So what should you wear? It’s a common Libra dilemma—we want to look our best! Should we break out the pumpkin spice, put out an array of beautiful gourds and pumpkins on the landing, put a wreath made of autumn leaves on the front door, and pull our favorite sweaters out of storage? Or should we continue to wear t-shirts, flowing, flowery sundresses and our favorite sandals. I mean, it could be hot again. We wouldn’t want to be overdressed and stressed out!
Of course, we experienced Librans from New England know the truth. You just bring a sweater to layer over your dress because the scales could easily tip either way!
I’m having fun, but I do think it’s true that one of the things Librans struggle with most is decision-making. We have other traits I would recommend flower essences for, but whenever I think of a flower essence for Librans, I think of Scleranthus. That’s the Bach Flower Remedy for clear and decisive decision-making.
I wrote an earlier blog post about Scleranthus which was about learning to trust your intuition and particularly the intuition that is centered in your heart. Scleranthus is a small, low to the ground plant with green flowers. The color green is often associated with the heart chakra—the balance point in the body between the wisdom of the upper chakras and the more physical-world oriented wisdom of the lower ones. And often the decisions the Libra personality wavers between most are ones that pit inspired and creative flights of artistic fancy with practical physical world choices like making a good living. I find that my path has often involved trying to figure out how to have both.
But another point I’d like to make in this blog post is about the low-to-the-ground (grounded) aspect of the Scleranthus plant and how that benefits the Libran personality. Libras will often waver between two extremes in decision-making, mood, and even physical well-being. A person can get dizzy or feel seasick from swinging back and forth even in their mind! And it makes you feel powerless and unable to move. Scleranthus helps with grounding and emotional stabilization so the insight of one’s intuition can come more clearly through.

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
