Every day Buddhist monks —and many other people—around the world make a sacred ritual of drinking their daily tea. The idea is to mindfully, meditatively, go through the process of making tea—adding the ingredients to their teapots, adding the hot water, and letting it steep—and then sitting meditatively, fully focussed on drinking it. You notice the taste, the smell, the sensation of drinking, while cultivating a feeling of gratitude and peace.
I have gotten out of the habit of infusing my morning cup with Reiki but I think I will return to it. The idea was to allow my morning tea to be a vehicle for the healing I wanted for myself to start and return to throughout the day. And if I was awake early enough to enjoy my tea outside I could add in the sound of the birds singing to welcome the day as part of my morning ritual, too. If it was raining, then the soothing sound of raindrops would do as well.
In particular, Reiki-infused or not, I think it is helpful to see the tea itself as healing and helpful and to welcome the benefits it brings as you drink. Anything you take into your body has an effect on your well-being (for better or for worse). So why not make choices—at least once a day—that nurture your body, mind, and spirit? It’s a wonderful way to take care of yourself and be in the world.
You can find organic herb tea ingredients in my shop. They are not Reiki-infused but use your love and intention to be nurtured by your cup as you drink and that will work as well.
