Calendula is available both as an herb and as a flower essence in my shop. As an herb it can be used as a tea thought to be energetically neutral or cooling and soothing to an inflamed digestive system. It can also be infused in oil to be used topically for soothing inflamed skin. And as a flower essence it is used to soothe inflamed emotions. This plant is known for its anti-inflammatory effects!
Which is interesting because as a garden plant, the very popular Calendula—also known as Pot Marigold—has a great affinity for the sun. It grows best in full-sun locations and stands upright with its yellow-orange daisy-like petals in a somewhat cup shape as if to soak up all the sunshine possible!
Energetically, as a flower essence (and probably also as an herb), Calendula seems to be about the soothing nurturing quality of warmth versus the searing burning excess of heat. It’s about receptivity and empathy and the warmth of one’s words and way of interacting in relationships, but it is also used to cool the tendency to be excessively hot and combative (especially in communication) while holding a warm space in one’s heart for others.

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
