Nasturtium is an underutilized flower essence in my opinion. It’s for intellectually-oriented people who spend too much time in their heads and feel tired as a result. But these same people rarely imagine that the tiredness they feel could have anything to do with that. After all, it’s not like they spend too much time partying and dancing all night! And they LIKE the quiet sedentary intellectual pursuits they engage in instead.
But the human energy system requires balance. Imagine any top-heavy object. It’s far easier to push that object over than one that is weighted at the bottom. And the same is true for human beings. We don’t just need mental stimulation. We need physical exercise, good food, and physical pleasures like sex, dancing, laughter, play, music, art, and joyful interactions with friends.
Think of these as 2nd chakra activities for the most part— certainly the procreative and sensual activities are! The 2nd chakra is all about physical pleasure and emotional wellbeing. It is also associated with the color orange in some traditions and Nasturtiums are famous for being that! Is that why they seem to bring forth the power of this chakra? I don’t know. But I do know that Nasturtium flower essence seems to release blockages that get in the way of healthy 2nd chakra functioning. It can bring back the ability to enjoy the more sensual aspects of existence and to enjoy being in a body interacting with the world around you. It increases vitality and joie de vivre (vim and vigor for life). It can also help you have more fun.

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
