Forget-Me-Nots have been associated with everlasting love for centuries. The idea of these flowers embodying and assisting with remembrance of those who have passed on, and feeling in connection with those people, is embedded in folklore and fairy tales of several countries. In the world of flower essences, the flowers seem to assist people in feeling a relationship with people we love who are no longer alive that is comforting and spiritually uplifting even though we no longer get to experience their physical presence.
I’ve put off writing this particular blog post for a long time because, thankfully, I have no experience using this flower essence. I also didn’t know what angle I wanted to take on this. While I know MANY people who have had contact with loved ones who have passed over and several who feel the presence of their loved ones and frequently communicate with them on a daily basis, this culture doesn’t typically want to support people in this area of life and I, certainly, do not want to give the impression that this flower essence is instant seance or mediumship in a bottle!
It’s really about tapping into an experience of comfort common to many different cultures, places, and time. I think of the many peoples who pray to their ancestors or engage in common rituals and celebrations that honor them. Praying to the ancestors is common in Africa, India, and most Asian countries, but I know many Christian and Jewish people who do it, too. My father was one of those people! I wasn’t sure he actually believed in God most of the time but, when under great duress, he would pray to his grandmother to have a word with the “Big Guy” or help as an intermediary in whatever way she could. The idea that the Spirit lives on after death is fundamental to almost all religions. If we weren’t taught to fear such interactions because of horror movies or reading too many Stephen King novels, I think the idea that loved ones might maintain an interest in those they left behind and even watch out for them would be talked about more often. Everyone in my family had at least one encounter with my father after he died, and my mother says in the most matter of fact kind of way that she talks with my father every day.
But, again, this is not necessarily what this flower essence does! But what it does do is help us remember our true spiritual nature and be uplifted by that. It can bring favorite memories of those who have died or dreams in which they appear and even talk with us. Other people report that they feel like their connection with their loved ones live on when previously they felt cut off and were left with nothing but loneliness, isolation, and despair. Still others talk about remembering karmic connections and connecting to spirit guides. I can tell you that having a relationship like that is immensely valuable and comforting.

Mama Love products are intended to add to a person’s sense of well-being. They all have worked for me and many of my customers. But nothing I make is a one size fits all magic pill; neither are they, in my opinion, drugs of any sort. In other words, flower essences may not be effective for everyone. Individual results may vary.
