Etsy has a new feature I thought I might try out. It’s called “Make An Offer” and it allows customers to make an offer lower than the listing price on specific items. If the offer is higher than the seller’s minimum price (Etsy will let you know)—and the seller agrees to it—a new listing with that adjusted price is created for the buyer through Etsy messages. You can buy it and check-out right from the message. You have up to 48 hours to purchase it at that price and nobody else has access to it during that time period.
As a seller, it offers me a way to clear out items I no longer sell or bought as supplies for my business but can’t use. Of course, I always could put such things on sale, but sometimes it’s hard to know what a good price should be. So this appeals to me. Some people will use this as a negotiating tool and bargain with people via Etsy messages. But that’s not my cup of tea. I don’t like haggling with people. So I set a minimum and the first person to offer a price above that minimum is who I plan to work with.
Tonight I created a new section in my shop called “Make An Offer.” At the moment I only have one listing there but that will change as I organize my shelves and identify items I no longer need or want to discontinue. Current offering:
8 round seamless silver-colored metal tins. 3.2″ diameter x 2″ high. Comes with matching lids that fit snugly. Great for candle-making, packaging supplies, kitchen storage, small craft supplies, cosmetics, etc. I used to package my teas in tins like these but I use larger containers now. These are new, never used.
